Here, for lunch, you can relax and sample local seafood or alternatively cross over to Valentia Island for a visit to the Skellig Experience, where you can learn about the surrounding rocky islands and the tiny group of monks that once lived there. The birthplace of Daniel O'Connell and Cahersiveen Ring Fort are potential stops before reaching the small fishing village of Portmagee. There will be plenty of chances for photo stops along the way to the Dingle Peninsula, with fantastic views. On a clear day, after leaving Killarney, there will be views of Ireland's highest peak, Carrauntoohil, after which we join the coastal road to Cahersiveen via Glenbeigh and Kells. You'll be touring one of the world 's classic routes today: the Ring of Kerry! The pubs here make great food and most of them have live music in the evenings-which one to choose is your only problem! You can walk the cliff top trails here, observe the various seabirds or visit the award-winning environmental show.įrom here, we will pass the popular golf course and beach at Lahinch through County Clare south to catch a ferry across the Shannon estuary to County Kerry to the beautiful lakeside town of Killarney, which will be your base for the next three nights. We will visit the breathtaking Moher Cliffs after lunch, falling almost 700 feet straight into the Atlantic. Then we'll stop at the City of the Crosses, Kilfenora, for a visit to the old cathedral and for lunch in the village. ![]() Much of the morning, we'll be exploring this unique region. This is a land of pavements of limestone, barren hillsides, unusual flora, early Christian villages, and monuments of old stone. We'll drive to The Burren, one of the great natural wonders of Ireland, on the second day of the journey. ![]()
